Who’d like to fund my travel to Philadelphia, August 24-December 13, to see Colette Fu‘s new exhibit at Temple University Libraries? From the announcement:
Temple University Libraries presents Philadelphia Unfolded featuring Philadelphia-based artist Colette Fu in the Exhibition Space on the first floor of Charles Library. Fu is known for her intricate pop-up book sculptures, which transform paper into immersive storytelling. As a New Jersey native and current Philadelphia resident, she has built a career that blends artistry, craftsmanship, and narrative in powerful ways. For this exhibition, Fu works with materials and imagery drawn from Temple Libraries’ Special Collections, including the Urban Archive Collection, the Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection, the Philadelphia Jewish Archive, and Templana.
Fu’s monumental Noodle Mountain will be included in the exhibit, but I’d also love to see the new work she has created from the library’s archival materials. This will be a show rich in meaning, anchored in the specificity of Philadelphia’s “diversity and creativity.” If you’re anywhere in the area, be sure to visit.
